New Research: How Technology is Redefining the Workplace, Workday, and Workforce

With millennials now making up the largest generation in the U.S. labor force, and the short-term contractor/freelancer “gig economy” estimated to grow to 43% by 2020, the definitions of both “workplace” and “workday” are shifting. To better understand what this evolution means for businesses today, our Workplace Communications Report evaluates these changing employee behaviors and their expectations regarding the technology they need to work when and how they want.

Mobile work applications are redefining “office hours”

Mobility no longer means having access to just email and mobile phone service. With employees constantly on-the-go, the need for technologies that support this work style. In fact, 71% of the total professionals we surveyed said that mobile applications give them peace of mind by providing timely updates on where work projects stand, and 66% feel work apps allow them to be more efficient. Mobile applications have also drastically changed how workers approach their commutes. For 51% of respondents, their commutes are another opportunity to get work done before they hit the office.
