Intermedia’s Security Products Division: Driving innovation in cloud and mobile security
When I talk to customers and partners about cloud IT and choosing a cloud provider, the conversation inevitably turns to security: Will their data be better protected in the cloud than on-premises? How can they make sure that their cloud provider is really protected with top-notch security? What security measures should they look for?
Given the almost-daily news headlines about hacking, ransomware, stolen data and encrypted devices, it’s not hard to understand their concerns. When you move your IT services to the cloud, you are putting your trust in your cloud provider. So how they build their datacenters and what security measures they take to protect your data are extremely important.

Introducing Intermedia’s Security Products Division
All this to say I am really excited to share the news that we are creating a new division, Intermedia Security Products, that will focus on innovation in cloud and mobile security. And we’ve tapped our very own Richard Walters to lead the team as Senior Vice President.
Our CEO Mike Gold explains the move this way:
“Intermedia has invested significantly in a broad range of different cloud-based service offerings delivered via 11 global datacenters. Security is inherent in everything that we do, including anti-virus, anti-spam, encryption, identity management, and more. With Richard at the helm, we will be consolidating all of these security investments under a completely new division where we can focus on offering our partners and customers innovative cloud security products. New sophisticated security threats require this focus and expertise.”
What will this look like day-to-day? Richard will lead and grow Intermedia’s security products team of experts to drive innovation and investment in security in new product areas and across all of our existing Office in the Cloud™ services, including Identity as a Service (IDaaS), email security, web security, threat protection, encryption, business continuity and more.
As expected, Richard is very excited about leading this new initiative:
“We are seeing new cyber threats emerge every day that target users, systems and applications in intelligent new ways. Just look at the destruction the new crypto-ransomware variant Locky has already caused. We pride ourselves on offering a suite of world-class technologies, whether we built them in-house from the ground up or they’re licensed with the mission of protecting information assets. I am extremely passionate about the roadmap we have in development for the months and years ahead.”
